Our first Car of the Month for 2011 features Daz Booker's iconic Turbo.
Here are the latest developments in his own words:

Here's an update to my previous car of the month which is on the following link:

Some things have changed since 2008.
The brakes have been upgraded with AP racing bespoke discs and bells from BG Developments
which gave me a lot better braking than the standard MGF Trophy brakes.

Cooling of the intake charge was the next thing on my list.
I've always had problems with this but managed to sort it by having a new intercooler
made to my own design and a larger radiator to add water cooling.

While i was having these made by Pro Alloy i decided to have some other items made which included
an alloy washer bottle, coolant header tank and a brake fluid reservoir, which have transformed the engine bay.

While tidying the engine bay i had a new rocker cover powder coated and fitted to the engine.
Then came the new fuel pressure regulator.

The clutch has been changed from the 7.25 inch alloy unit to a standard size AP racing clutch kit
with four paddle ceramatallic plate along with a Elise parts lightened flywheel.
While replacing the clutch i fitted a new gearbox mount with alloy pin also from Elise parts.

I've also changed the wheels from MGTF 16 inch alloys to the early MGF Trophy wheels
which i think looks a lot better and suits the car better than the tf ones.

During the summer i encounted a problem with one of the pistons detonating so i had a long hard think
and came to the conclusion that i needed to build a stronger engine.

I got all my parts together - all new !
The pistons and rods i purchased from QED Motorsport which are forged items and
which were especially designed to be used in the Rover k series turbocharged engine.

I sent the crank , rods, pistons, clutch and drive pulleys to Vibration Free
along with the new camshafts which were specially made by Piper to fit in the vvc head.

The new crank and block were old Rover stock which i picked up at a discounted price.

I chose to go for the vvc cylinder head as this has larger valves and will give more power
and better flow and also decided to go solid cam conversion on the inlet
so i purchased a head from Matt Parker.

I then sent this to Hellier Performance to be ported and polished
which also gains more power and then started to build the engine.

All the other parts i needed to build the engine were purchased from our local X part dealer.

An Elise parts sump baffle was added to the freshly powder coated sump before fitting to the engine.

The new engine is running sweet but i'm in the running in process at the moment
so don't know the real capabilities of the unit.
