Car of the Month for July 2009 is one of Martin's
aka sinkietjoe1958 collection of AR cars...here is the story of his VDP:
CAR OF THE MONTH JULY 2009
E102 UTH is my trusty and honest 1988 rare duo tone blue metro vanden plas automatic.
This metro has been in the family now for 11 years now
and it has always been very reliable.
It has had 6 keepers before me so i'm the 7th.
Sadly rust had taken it's toll on the floorpan between 2004 and 2005
so during that time it underwent major welding!
Apart from that it has always managed to pass with little other welding needed.

My vdp was first sold from Austin Rover Howells of Cardiff but registered in Swansea.
It's my town car and my wife's learner car.
I very often use it for town driving as my Rover 45 is too big my local town centre.
Brings a smile to my face it does.
At times i wanted to scrap it but i could never part with it,
after all it is a rare sight these days.
I took it along to the Metro 28th birthday meet at Longbridge in October 2008
and spent time with my family talking to vpsteve, another duo tone owner.

It is part of my fleet of cars alongside another metro auto which is currently in restoration.
