owned by Club Member Chris Miller.
Here, in his own words, is the story so far:
This is my 1982 MK1 Automatic Vanden Plas in Silver leaf.
I bought her with 26000 miles on the clock and she now has 36000 miles on the clock.
I have had the car for just under a year now and never really had any problems.
When I first bought her from a little village just south of Luton,
I had to drive her 110 miles back home.
The car was a little juddery and stalled at a couple of roundabouts.
A good service and a drop of REdex carb cleaner later and I've never had a problem since!
This is my 4th car and also my oldest yet is the first car I owned to have a rev counter!
I have tried to keep everything to the car factory spec but eventually gave in
and put a nice looking rocker cover on the engine and a rear spoiler.
I have also put on a pair of wind deflectors:
and my favourite part, the Louvre!:
I have never seen another metro with the rear window louvre on and it always
makes me smile when I see it, I think my car now looks like a squashed DeLorean!
Plans for the future:
My car is always a work in progress and there's always something I want to do to it.
Next will be the front valance replacing, followed by refurbing the the wheels.
Respray as the paint has some tatty bits, new front bumper as there's a great big dent in,
and a few little bits of rust to chop and weld up.
I hope this car will be with me for years and years to come as I have no intention of selling!
Cheers! Miller.
