M.G. TICKFORD TURBO
I came across this car in 2003 through the Tickford Owner Club.
The owner wanted it to be restored rather then broken
so I set off on a 500 mile journey with a trailer not knowing if I would even buy it.
The owner had put it in a newly built lean-too when she was having her second child
and there it remained it for 10 years.
When the car came out it was clear the lean-too was not the best
and had been leaking for most of the time it was in there - the result was bad.
But it was all there so we agreed a price,
and I set off back to the Riviera and put it in the garage.
The main reason for taking the car on was I had promised my Daughter
the other Tickford I had, so this one was going to be for my son.
When I pulled it out and started stripping it the extent of the rust became clear.
When I sat in the passenger seat the rear of the seat went through the floor !!.
Anyway a bit of t-cut here, a bit of polish there,
seven years and around 300 hours labour and it’s back on the road.

At the moment it’s the only Tickford Turbo on the road
but I know there are 2 others out there in the pipeline
and both I’m pleased to say are in the club.
As for my son taking ownership, that’s changed too as he has a Frazer Tickford
like his sister now so this is mine.
Don’t you just love a happy ending?
