Cool! :D Another GTi racer and virtually my own car's twin! :P Keep us posted on your modifications as I'm always interested to hear what works well etc.

Are you planning on doing any more trackdays this year? I might join you on track sometime  .

Yeah many more this year....

Snetterton on the first of march.

Current plans, rear end rebuild, maybe solid mount the rear subframe. See how it goes from there....

Hi :) Strange that, cos I'm just about to fit my newly rebuilt rear subframe too  Was also thinkin of solid mounting it as well. I've fitted drop- stops to the new radius arms too which I'm promised will give tighter turn-in.
I've done any permitted mods bit by bit on mine over past twelve months in order to give me chance to get used to them and see if they were beneficial. Let us know how you get on with your solid mounting and stuff and we can compare notes! :D :D

What method did you use to solid mount your rear subframe, do you do all your work your self and do you want to come and do mine :P

i've already discussed this i thing on metropower. to truly solid mount the rear subframe, the first thing to do is weld plates on to the rear subframe mounts. this will fasten the two halves together, which will stop them flexing on the rubber between the two halves. For the rear of the subframe, all you really need to do is drill through the boot floor into the rear subframe and stick a bolt through. you can either leave the rubber block on the back of the subframe or remove it and relace it with a bit of box section, of the same height.
